Joint Meeting of the University of Applied Science and Technology with the COMSTECH Inter-Islamic Network on Virtual Universities (CINVU)

The meeting was held on 6 April 2025, hosted by the Research and Technology Vice-Presidency of the University of Applied Science and Technology, with the aim of exploring strategies for developing international cooperation and utilizing the capacities of both parties.

In this meeting, Dr. Najafi Barzegar, Secretary General of the Islamic World Virtual Universities Network, while outlining the history of past collaborations with the University of Applied Science and Technology, emphasized the network’s interest in expanding cooperation among member universities in the Islamic world.

Also in this meeting, Dr. Khalili, Acting Vice President for Research and Technology at the university, highlighted the importance of establishing a laboratory network among the member universities as a foundation for expanding research activities, and stressed the necessity of drafting and signing a memorandum of understanding between the parties to clarify the areas of collaboration.

The session was also attended by Dr. Bagheri Farahani, Acting Director of the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation at the university, who elaborated on the unique features and distinct goals of the University of Applied Science and Technology compared to other universities. He emphasized the importance of considering these unique features and relative advantages when defining areas of joint cooperation.

Furthermore, Dr. Rahimi, Advisor to the Secretary General of COMSTECH Inter-Islamic Network on Virtual Universities (CINVU), expressed the network’s readiness to provide platforms for showcasing the university’s achievements and increasing its visibility by organizing exhibitions in some neighboring countries.

Dr. Honari, Acting President of the West Tehran Branch of the University of Applied Science and Technology, also announced his unit’s readiness to pilot joint programs within this provincial branch.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to proceed with the drafting and signing of a memorandum of understanding as soon as possible.
