Meeting between the Head of the Office for Scientific and International Cooperation of the University and the Acting Director General of the Bureau for Non-Iranian Student Affairs, Ministry of Science
Dr. Bagheri Farahani, Head of the Office for Scientific and International Cooperation of the University of Applied Science and Technology (UAST), along with his colleagues, met with Dr. Jafari, Acting Director General of the Bureau for Non-Iranian Student Affairs at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, on April 25, 2025.
During the meeting, Dr. Bagheri provided an overview of the university’s capacities for admitting international students and presented the strategic plan to attract 10,000 non-Iranian students. He also reported on recent efforts undertaken to enhance the admission process and strengthen oversight of consular and academic procedures for these students.
Referring to the growing number of requests from various centers affiliated with UAST for permits to admit international students, he emphasized that by accelerating the evaluation and authorization processes—while taking into account the unique characteristics of skill-based universities and the specific levels of education they offer—the university would be well-positioned to meet regional market demands and student interest in both degree and non-degree skill-based programs.
In response, Dr. Jafari welcomed UAST’s growing engagement in the field of international student recruitment. Acknowledging the distinct nature of skill-based universities compared to traditional academic institutions, he expressed readiness to work in coordination with relevant policy-making bodies to adjust the licensing criteria in alignment with the specific requirements of such universities.
