Specialized Meeting of the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation of the University of Applied Science and Technology with International Student Recruitment Institutes
In line with the strategic goals of the University of Applied Science and Technology regarding the recruitment of international students, a specialized meeting was held on Tuesday, October 8, 2025, organized by the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation of the university. The meeting was attended by managers of institutes and companies active in recruiting and admitting international students, as well as selected applied science centers.
This session, held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in a hybrid format in cooperation with the International Students Affairs Department of the Student Affairs Organization, included in-person guests alongside university regional unit heads, applied science center directors, and student recruitment institute managers who participated online.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Bagheri Farahani, Director General of the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation, emphasized the importance of educational centers’ attention to international interactions and attracting non-Iranian students, aligning with the country’s 7th Development Plan and the university’s strategic program. He described the overall environment of the university’s international activities as positive and progressing, reviewed recent university achievements, and elaborated on plans and strategies to expand international collaborations. He underlined that increasing enrollment of international students in both degree and short-term courses is among the university’s top priorities.
Following this, Dr. Jafari, Director General of the International Students Affairs Department at the Student Affairs Organization, referred to the 7th Development Plan, stressing the importance of enhancing universities’ capacity to recruit foreign students and providing appropriate infrastructure. He also expressed hope that broader collaboration with specialized recruitment institutes would effectively boost existing potentials and create a bright future for this field.
The next part of the meeting was dedicated to presentations by representatives from selected applied science centers, who introduced their mission domains and potential capacities for international student recruitment. Speakers included directors from the Applied Science Center Prestige Land (Isfahan), Azin Khodro Company (Alborz), Firefighting, Safety and Urban Services (Tehran), Jewelry Guild Union (Tehran), Culture and Art Unit 46 (Tehran), Koosha Company (Tehran), Kahrizak Elderly and Disabled Care Center (Tehran), Golestan Company (Tehran), and Tehran Moo Company (Tehran). They highlighted their areas of activity, structural connections with industry and labor markets, and introduced the facilities, equipment, background, and experiences related to the University of Applied Science and Technology.
Managers of authorized international student recruitment institutes also shared their viewpoints and suggestions regarding the necessity of better promoting the university’s capacities internationally, facilitating the recruitment and admission process, and providing supportive facilities for international students.
In the closing session, Dr. Bagheri Farahani provided further explanations addressing the institutes’ suggestions and some ambiguities. He emphasized the need for continuous and effective interaction between these institutes and the applied science centers following this meeting. He also noted that such cooperation platforms have been established in collaboration with the Student Affairs Organization via virtual space, expressing hope that through this synergy, the goals of attracting international students will be successfully achieved.
