Visit of the President of the ECO Science Foundation to the University of Applied Science and Technology

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Dr. Seyed Komeil Tayebi, President of the ECO Science Foundation, visited the University of Applied Science and Technology and held a joint meeting with the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation of the University to discuss and exchange views on ways to expand cooperation between the Foundation and the University.

The meeting, aimed at promoting scientific, cultural, and regional collaboration between the University of Applied Science and Technology and the ECO Science Foundation, featured a presentation by Dr. Bagheri, Director General of the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation. Dr. Bagheri outlined the University’s capacities in the field of skill-based education and its strong linkages with industry, highlighting previous interactions between the University and various sectors of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). He expressed hope that, given the Foundation’s headquarters in Pakistan, such collaborations could lead to broader academic cooperation between the University and scientific and educational institutions in Pakistan.

During the meeting, Dr. Tayebi emphasized the importance of scientific diplomacy within the ECO region, noting that skill-oriented universities can play a key role in sustainable development and community empowerment. He added that scientific cooperation among ECO member countries should be further expanded and welcomed the University’s readiness for such collaboration. Presenting an overview of the Foundation’s activities, he stressed human resource development as one of its main priorities and stated that the University of Applied Science and Technology — with its mission to train competent and skilled human resources — could be an effective and valuable partner for the Foundation.

The meeting also discussed potential areas of collaboration, including organizing joint scientific events, training workshops, and expert meetings; participation in regional research projects; mutual introduction of the networks of applied science centers and the ECO Science Foundation; and fostering academic and institutional linkages between the two networks.
