According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Applied Science and Technology, the first meeting of the Policy Council of the First National Legal Skills Olympiad was held in the conference hall of Shahid Hassan-Zadeh at the University of Applied Science and Technology. The meeting was attended by Dr. Aliakbari, President of the University of Applied Science and Technology; Dr. Mohammad-Sajjad Dehnavi, Head of the Islamic Countries Consultants and Specialists Organization (INSCO); and representatives from relevant occupational authorities in the legal field, including the Judiciary, the Bar Association, the Center for Lawyers and Legal Experts, and the National Elites Foundation.

At the beginning of the session, Dr. Bagheri Farahani, Director General of the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation, explained the coordination and planning carried out in collaboration with INSCO, referring to the objectives of this Olympiad. Emphasizing the necessity of adopting innovative and effective methods and formats for holding the Olympiad, he identified the design of an assessment structure based on skills and job competencies across various and diverse legal sub-sectors as the distinguishing feature of this Olympiad compared to previous experiences. Furthermore, he considered active and effective participation, as well as the endorsement of legal authorities in the country, as the conditions for the success of this Olympiad. Dr. Bagheri added that the University’s perspective and outlook on this matter mark the first experience on the path to holding specialized skills Olympiads, which—following the successful registration of this first experience—can be extended to various occupational fields with the participation of relevant authorities.

Continuing the session, Dr. Dehnavi introduced the institutions and organizations that had announced their readiness to participate in holding this event and elaborated on certain executive aspects of the Olympiad, including the preliminary identification of specialized sub-sectors for the Olympiad, operational processes, and the proposed timeline. He expressed hope that with the participation of various legal authorities, this Olympiad would provide the grounds for healthy competition, the identification of elites, and the qualitative enhancement of legal fields.

Also during this session, Dr. Aliakbari, while appreciating the planning and follow-ups conducted for the purpose of holding the First National Legal Skills Olympiad, emphasized the sensitivity of the subject and the necessity of exercising the highest degree of accuracy to ensure the high-quality holding of this event as the University’s first experience in this arena. He added that the Vice-Presidency for Supervision and Professional Competency Assessment of the University, given its successful experiences in designing competency models and implementing assessment processes in occupational fields, will assume the central role in the scientific sector of this event. It is necessary for planning to continue with precision through the formation of scientific and executive committees.

Additionally at this meeting, representatives of legal sub-sectors, including Dr. Abbasi from the Vice Presidency for Legal Affairs, Dr. Yousefi from the Center for Lawyers and Legal Experts of the Judiciary, and Dr. Khorshidi from the Dispute Resolution Center of the Judiciary, presented their scientific and executive views regarding the holding of this Olympiad.
